We’ve been running a series of stories (you can find the archive link below) about some of the positive news in our industry relating to the Covid-19 pandemic, such as relief efforts for and from the music community, and tools to help artists adapt to the situation.
Start today with a new campaign from Global Citizen, which previously co-hosted the ‘One World: Together at Home’ online concert that raised $127.9m for Covid-19 relief. Its new campaign is ‘Global Goal: Unite for Our Future‘ with the European Commission, focusing on supporting access to Covid-19 tests, treatments and vaccines. It’s working with musicians including Dionne Warwick, Femi Kuti, J Balvin, Lady Gaga, Lang Lang, Coldplay, Miley Cyrus and Shakira to raise awareness ahead of an ‘international pledging summit’ on 27 June.
For more positivity, read Billboard’s story on the Quarantunes series of music livestreams, which launched in the hope of raising $10k for a local health clinic, but has since raised more than $3m for charities.
Finally today, classical music streaming service Idagio has a new feature called ‘Global Concert Hall‘ for classical musicians and ensembles to put on their own livestreamed concerts, and make money directly from their audiences through ticket sales.
