Timbaland creates brand new music for Beat Saber VR game | Music Ally

Virtual reality music game Beat Saber has now sold more than two million copies since its early-access release in November 2018. Facebook acquired the game and its developer Beat Games in November 2019, too. Now the game has an interesting new artist partnership, with veteran producer Timbaland. He has released five brand new tracks in a $7.99 pack for Beat Saber – they’ll also be sold a la carte for $1.99 apiece – which launches in-game on 26 March.

Consultant Vickie Nauman, who’s been working with Beat Games on its licensing strategy, praised Mono Management and the various labels, publishers, management firms and musicians involved in getting the rights cleared to the tracks – “It has been doubly challenging as these are brand new songs, so lots of parties involved,” she said.

The five tracks won’t be exclusive to Beat Saber: they’ll be released on streaming and download services on 26 March alongside the game pack’s launch. There, they’ll join tracks from artists including Green Day, Imagine Dragons and K/DA, with Beat Saber having sold more than 10m songs so far.
