AWAL hires Chris Hardy as Head of Canadian Operations | Music Business Worldwide

Kobalt’s recordings company AWAL has hired Chris Hardy as Head of Operations, Canada.

Based in AWAL’s newly opened Toronto office, Hardy will act as the Canadian contact for global label clients.

Hardy will focus on marketing, commerce, sales, client relations and acquisition and will be the Canadian point of contact for AWAL’s North American A&R team, representing its artists regionally with digital accounts and physical accounts, as well as regional radio promotion and publicity teams.

Hardy joins AWAL with more than 20 years of music industry experience in the Canadian market.

Most recently, he ran Canadian Business at The Orchard, upon the purchase by Sony, where he established their first Canadian office.

Hardy spent more than 10 years at Sony Music Canada where he managed the Partnership Brand business and then went on to run the Distributed Label Business.

Before joining Sony, he worked at Universal Canada where he ran Key Accounts for 8 years. He started his career in the industry in sales at Warner Music Canada.
