Independent Norwegian publisher Arctic Rights Management has inked two new sub-publishing deals to strengthen its global presence.
The company has recently enjoyed worldwide chart success with Dua Lipa’s New Rules (video pictured) – co-written by Arctic Rights’ signing Caroline Ailin.
Arctic Rights has now signed an agreement for the world outside the UK and Ireland with BMG, its co-publisher on New Rules.
The deal will provide Arctic Rights with access to a network of A&R and synchronization managers, as well as administration and collection services.
Arctic Rights and BMG have also entered into a co-publishing relationship to jointly sign and develop globally relevant Norwegian writers.
Sanken Sandqvist, MD BMG Scandinavia, commented: “We are thrilled that Arctic Rights have chosen BMG Scandinavia as their partner and look forward to jointly promoting Norwegian talent worldwide.”
Thomas Scherer, BMG EVP Global Writer Services, said: “Norway is increasingly becoming a source of strong pop repertoire. We are excited to add global value to Arctic’s roster of songwriters.”
“Needless to say this is a big and exciting step for Arctic Rights – adding power, credibility and not to mention competence on a global level,” said Kai Robøle, Creative Director and Founder of Arctic Rights Management.

Within the UK and Ireland, Arctic Rights will be administered by the family-run Kassner Music group.
“We are delighted to be a part of the Arctic Rights project,” said David Kassner, Managing Director of the Kassner Music group.
“We have recognised for some time the depth of musical ability coming out of Norway and so it was extremely important to us to support Arctic Rights’ vision and contribute to the success of this emerging talent.”
Additionally, Arctic Rights has appointed Johan Husvik as Head of Sync.
Previously at Phonofile, a leading Scandinavian digital distribution company, Husvik expanded the company’s sync department and represented many top indie labels and artists in the region.
Husvik has over 12 years in music supervision which includes work across 26 feature films, hundreds of commercials and several award-winning TV-series.
Arctic Rights is also announcing the completion of three of its own administration, deals, adding to its roster the publishing catalogues of the Norwegian independent labels MTG Music Publishing, Jansen Plateproduksjon and Beatservice.
Arctic Rights will host the first Arctic Island songwriter camp from 5th-8th August in partnership with BMG and BMI, leading up to the Øyafestival in Oslo. The 4-day event is supported by Music Norway, NOPA, Musikkforleggerne and Øyafestivalen.
Among the 25 participants are: Ina Wroldsen (NO), Magnus Bertelsen (NO), Electric (NO), James Newman (UK), What So Not (AU), Brandyn Burnette (US) and Sean Kennedy (US).Music Business Worldwide
